Mendip Painting Centre Founded in 1971 by Peter Coate RWA, at Rickford, near Blagdon. He converted a building that had been used as estate workshops into a painting studio on the first floor above a framing workshop.
David & Ros Cuthbert took over the Centre in 1985 and in 1996 moved the business from Rickford to Winscombe. The Mendip Painting Centre is entirely self-supporting, receives no subsidies or grants from the local authority or anyone else but offers high quality teaching at affordable prices in properly equipped studios, well lit and comfortable for working.
The building is part of Winscombe Community Centre and the Association is a sympathetic and understanding landlord.
