Still Life & InteriorsThe series of paintings shown here were born out of our second trip to Brazil. I found it quite hard to absorb the sights of that immense and varied country. Australia, for some unaccountable reason, I found much more immediately accessible. However after months of gestation I settled into images derived from a couple of fish dinners we had in Cabo Frio and Buzios and a lunch in Rio de Janeiro. This led naturally to other meals here in Winscombe, eaten on the cluttered table in our living room. Cluttered with letters, books and Ros’s music these still lives are anything but still, and I have begun to incorporate a figure into some of them. Click image to enlarge.
